Mikayel Balyan fortepiano
Programme: František Josef Benedikt Dusík, Francesco Pollini, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Nepomuk Hummel
Mikayel Balyan plays sonatas, fantasias in variations by Mozart, his pupil Hummel and two of their contemporaries with close ties to Slovenia. Francesco Pollini was born in Ljubljana in 1762 and lived there for twenty years. He is the dedicatee of two works by Mozart and of Bellini’s La sonnambula. Four years his junior, František Josef Benedikt Dusík was employed at Ljubljana cathedral and at the turn of the century became a leading member of the Philharmonic Society.
